Acceptable Usage Policy - Conditions and Limitations of HiNet ALERT system

The HiNet ALERT system is designed to be in compliance with
s4.3 of the Credit Management Code.
This Code has the endorsement of HINet and in our view represents
current Industry best-practices.

The ALERT system can help you manage your credit exposure
by notifying you when your EXCESS charges (additional charges
for usage beyond package limits) have reached a certain
level through one or more means.

The ALERT system does not remove RESPONSIBILITY for usage from you.
Your usage is still your responsibility. You are required to be
aware of the level of usage of all accounts that you have with us.
The ALERT system is another tool that is designed to help you
with that awareness; but it is highly recommended that it not be
the only one that you use.

The ALERT system relies on some data provided from
external sources to calculate your usage information.
This data is at present a minimum of two hours old, and is
sometimes late, inaccurate, or missing. Where this happens:

HiNet makes every effort to obtain correct usage information for
you from our external provider, and where the above things happen
they will have an effect on the ALERT system. It is important that
you understand what these effects can be.

Delayed, inaccurate, or incomplete usage data from our external
provider means that the ALERT system will be operating on data
that WILL NOT represent the entire amount of your usage. What this
means to you is:

An ALERT generated for a particular amount does NOT mean that is all you owe.

An ALERT will only be issued AFTER your excess usage crosses a threshold.
We cannot predict exactly when your usage will cross the threshold, so we
have to wait till AFTER your usage does in order to alert you. For example,
if your threshold is $30.00 you may get an alert at $38.00.

Just because we have sent you an ALERT, does not mean you will
receive it. For example, if you never check your HiNet email you will
not see the 'HiNet account email' alert. Check your HiNet email
box regularly!

An ALERT is not a tax invoice nor receipt! It is simply an indication to
you that your usage has crossed a preset threshold.

The figure for 'total charge' that you receive in an ALERT is
current at the time of ALERT generation ONLY and includes 'alert
charges' for that particular service and alert ONLY. If you have selected
multiple charged alerts and you have multiple charged services,
alerts are NOT generated as a 'total for all services' but rather
on a per-service basis.

Despite all these limitations it is our view that some form of
ALERT system for excess usage is better than none.

The HiNet ALERT system includes charges for some types of alerts.
Alerts that are currently available are:
